Kidney Stones
Kidney stones are hard deposits of minerals and salts that form inside your kidneys. They can develop when the urine becomes concentrated, allowing minerals to crystallize and stick together. Kidney stones vary in size and can cause severe pain, especially if they obstruct the urinary tract.
The most common types of kidney stones are calcium stones, uric acid stones, struvite stones, and cystine stones. While small stones may pass without causing significant pain, larger stones can block the flow of urine, leading to intense pain and other complications. Treatment options for kidney stones include drinking plenty of fluids, medications to manage pain, and, in some cases, surgical procedures to remove larger stones.
